In life I love changes. I move around a lot, changing countries, hobbies and lifestyle in total. The only thing I never change is my hair. The only big change is the transition from my natural brown color to my closet natural color – blonde – which I think I carry well thanks to my “swedish blond” greek mother from whom I inherited my skin tone. For many years now I style my hair almost the same , having women like Cindy Crawford as the ultimate style icons that remain beautiful in their classic look.
Back to hair matters now I just realized that I have been a client at Michaeljohn Hair Salon for 22 years only because Charlie Chan was there. Charlie is the best hairdresser in the world , with clientele like Anna Wintour and Roger Federer. He ruled the salon and always picked up the best to do your color or blow-dry. He introduced me to to fantastic colorists : Marie Chilcott and Lea Harrison. Lea took my hair color one step beyond and I have been loyal to him ever since. Plus he’s a Capricorn like Charlie and me -and I trust “us”. Apparently “Greece Happened” to Michaeljohns and 11 top hairdressers have left. So Lea was one of them and I followed. As everything happens for the best he introduced me to the already very popular salon of Gielly Green in Marylebone.
Owned by Fred Gielly and Shai Greenberg it has a unique salon philosophy and is a haven of indulgent satisfaction – you have to see how they wash your hair and you will understand.
It is a boutique salon offering the ultimate in customer care, reverting back to an uncompromising old-school style of service. The team has been handpicked because they are each working at the top of their field, individually talented and with many years of salon experience to their name. I saw many friendly faces there. Except Lea and his brother Matt who also moved there from MJ, does Avril Lavigne and gave me a fantastic blow-dry I saw Shai, Fred, Laurent, Andre, Derek and Poppy Lupe. The Creme de La Creme of hairstylists!
Lea does blond like no other! Among his clients are Dido , Faithless and Felicity Kendal and I just missed Kate Winslet who had just left the salon..
